About the Role

As an Entry-Level Concrete Laborer, you will be responsible for supporting concrete construction projects through a variety of manual tasks. Your primary duties will include assisting with the preparation, pouring, finishing, and curing of concrete, as well as ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of tools and equipment. This position is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in the construction industry.


1. Safety Precautions:

  •  Prioritize safety above all else. Familiarize yourself with the jobsite's safety rules and guidelines.

  •  Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection, as required.

  •  Always follow the instructions of experienced workers when operating machinery or tools.

2. Tool and Equipment Maintenance:

  •  KNOW YOUR TOOLS, Keep tools and equipment clean and in good working condition.

  •  Learn how to safely operate common concrete tools and equipment such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, concrete mixers, and trowels.

  •  Report any damaged or malfunctioning tools or equipment immediately to your supervisor.

3. Materials Handling:

  •  Assist in the unloading, storage, and transportation of construction materials, including bags of concrete, rebar, and formwork.

  •  Learn proper lifting techniques to prevent injury when handling heavy materials.

4. Formwork Setup:

  •  Assist in the assembly and placement of formwork, ensuring it is level, secure, and properly aligned.

  •  Follow instructions for formwork installation provided by experienced workers.

5. Concrete Mixing:

  •  Learn how to prepare and mix concrete according to specifications.

  •  Ensure that the concrete mix is consistent and free of lumps.

6. Concrete Placement:

  •  Assist in the pouring and placement of concrete, spreading it evenly and leveling it with appropriate tools (e.g., shovels, rakes).

  •  Work with experienced laborers to finish the concrete surface as needed.

7. Rebar Installation:

  •  Assist in the placement and securing of rebar according to engineering specifications.

  •  Learn how to tie and cut rebar safely.

8. Cleanup and Site Maintenance:

  •  Keep the work area clean and organized, removing debris and waste materials.

  •  Ensure there is water on site to clean tools. Water can be received from tap if available, concrete truck, concrete pump, water cube, etc.

  •  Dispose of waste materials in designated containers.

  •  Clean and store tools properly after use.

9. Communication:

  •  Communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors.

  •  Ask questions when unsure about a task to prevent mistakes and ensure safety.

10. Learning and Development:

  •  Be receptive to training and constructive feedback from experienced workers.

  •  Take the initiative to learn new skills and improve your understanding of concrete construction processes.
